The former Middlesbrough and youth national team mentor Gareth Southgate became a new head coach of England national team .
According to the Football Association official website, the contract with Gareth Southgate was signed till 2020 (Euro 2020 included).
“Southgate is the one we all know well. He demonstrated a good job in four games when headed the team temporarily. Besides, he impressed us during the hard interview that we conducted”, – the FA executive director Martin Glenn commented on the appointment.
The specialist himself announced that to get this job is the one thing, but now he plans to do it successfully. “The hard work has already started now,” – said Southgate.
The first fight for him as the “Three Lions” head coach will be a friendly match against Germany in Dortmund on March 22 next year.
It’s noteworthy that after the Sam Allardyce’s dismissal in September this year, Gareth Southgate was appointed as an acting one. He was instructed to lead the team in the matches that are left to play in 2016.
