The Polish government plans to revise current gambling laws, to make the market more open and legal.
The Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin confirmed the intention of Polish government to develop a new draft law. The country lost a lot after the current gambling laws introduction in 2009. He reported about that in the interview for Polish Radio. The damage is around several billion zloty (up to a billion dollars).
“That’s why a few months ago we decided to change the legislation so that the funds flowed back into the country budget”, – said Gowin.
By the way, this is not the first statement of high-ranking government representatives about the planned changes. The Poland’s Ministry of Finance reported in May about the changes prepared in the law. According to it, the Polish licensed operators will be able to offer online slots. But then it was decided to nationalize the online slots offered entirely as part of the national lotteries. So the same applies to ground-based slots.
The Deputy Prime Minister remarked the government would intend to strengthen the law enforcement actions regarding international operators. “Within a few months the market will remain in the shadow area of the economy, and Poland will keep on losing 100-300 million zloty per month”, – added the Deputy of Prime Minister.
