The Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman got a two-matches suspension for the occurred incident in a 15th round game of Serie A with Lazio (2:0), according to Football Italia.
In the match against the Eagles Strootman first swilled with water Lazio player Danilo Cataldi. It happened as soon as the latter grabbed the back of his shirt and simulated pain. Consequently, it resulted in the opponent’s removal.
The Serie A Disciplinary Committee found Strootman’s action unsporting and provocative. It fixed two-matches suspension for the midfielder that the Romans were going to appeal in the near future.
Roma bosses’ anxiety is obvious because Strootman is a key Wolfes player. In a short while, the Luciano Spalletti’s squad will play the next two games against local football giants – Juventus and Milan.
As for Danilo Cataldi, he received a one-match suspension for reaction to Strootman’s provocation. As a result, he would miss the match against Sampdoria.
